Renault Announces the All-New Kangoo Van E-Tech Electric

Offers a range of up to 186 miles on the WLTP combined cycle to better meet the needs of professional customers.
Kangoo E-Tech will be available with support for up to 80kW DC rapid charging to add up to 106 miles of range in just 30 minutes.
The All-New Kangoo range was named International Van of the Year 2022 and should arrive in UK showrooms next year.

The first generation Electric Kangoo launched in the UK in 2012 and now Renault has released the first details of the all-new model, expected to arrive with dealers in 2022. The first generation sold over 70,000 in Europe since its launch, and the new model is expected to beat this figure thanks to its longer range and faster-charging options.

186 Miles WLTP Range

The All-New Kangoo E-Tech's battery offers a usable capacity of 45kWh which translates to an expected 186 miles of range on the WLTP combined cycle. This range is more than enough for the daily usage of most vans in this class meaning many businesses can benefit from the lower running costs that come with switching to an electric van.

The battery has been cleverly integrated into the vehicle's floor, meaning that the load area of the van has not been impacted at all.

Now Available with Fast Charging

To recharge the battery, the Kangoo E-Tech offers three different options:

  • Standard 11kW three-phase chameleon charger which is ideal for standard home and work chargers. at 11kW the batter can be charged from 15% to full in 3 hours 50 minutes or on a single-phase 7.4kW charger the same charge would take less than six hours.

  • Optional 22kW three-phase chameleon charger for use at high-powered public charging points.

  • Optional 80kW DC fast charging allows 106 miles of WLTP range to be added to the battery in just 30 minutes.

Both the 22kW and 80kW chargers feature liquid cooling to ensure battery health is protected at higher charging speeds.

Keeping You Comfortable, Whatever the Weather

To ensure those using the Kangoo E-Tech are get comfortable no matter what the British weather is up to, it is available with a heated windscreen, heated seats, and a heated steering wheel.

Selected models are also fitted with a heat pump to minimise the impact of the vehicle's range when heating or cooling the cabin.

Stress-free Driving

Thanks to a 90kW motor generating 245Nm of torque from a standstill, you can expect smooth and relaxing performance when you get behind the wheel, ideal if you have to drive for work.

Eco mode has been designed to limit maximum power to maximise range and is best used when carrying lighter loads. There are three different modes for the regenerative braking system which can either allow the vehicle to coast for longer or slow down quickly when lifting your foot off the accelerator - this is especially useful when driving in heavy traffic or down steep hills.

Details about the different drive modes as well as other important information for the driver is displayed on the optional 10-inch digital instrument cluster which is found in the Renault ZOE. Information is clearly shown and can be customised to the driver's preferences.

All the Benefits of a Kangoo Van

The All-New Kangoo E-Tech offers all the features you get in the standard internal-combustion engined Kangoo, including the Renault Easy Link multimedia system with 8.0-inch display, hands-free key card, and automatic parking brake.

The front seat can be folded to turn the cabin into a mobile office (cost option) and there is almost 60 litres of storage space in the cabin, meaning you'll never be short of space to put things.

In the back, there's up to 3.9m3 of space and a payload capacity of up to 600kg. The Kangoo E-Tech can also tow up to 1500kg.

The Renault smartphone app or Renault Easy Link multimedia system provides added convenience thanks to a range of connected services that can be used to programme and schedule battery charging, remotely monitor battery levels, pre-heat or cool the cabin, search for charging stations along the route, or calculate which destinations are accessible with the remaining battery.
